Well today, marks my 2 year annivesary of Vlogging! It's been a great 2 years and I have met so many cool people both online and off line. I am looking forward to meeting more of you this upcoming year! This video is a bit silly and FAR different than what I orginally had planned and I didn't really like it at first, mainly because I thought my orginal idea was so much better, but then I happened upon the music and I ended up liking this piece.

I really would like to thank all those who have dropped by and I hope that sometimes I was able to put a smile on your face or make you think for a minute....I have recieved far more than I could ever give back. It's been a wild ride and I can't wait to see what this new year will bring....(I hope, anyway....usually when I say stuff like that, it comes back to bite me in the....)

I miss Zombie Tales.....what is Zombie Tales you ask? Well, I think alot of you know what it is, but for those who are maybe new to the madness that is me, Zombie Tales is.....well it's a long story but the short version is, it's a bunch of shorts we did of zombies! You can check out the shorts here or if you like we also have DVD's! (shameless plug!).

Now back to "missing" Zombie Tales.....My buddy and me keep talking about writing some more and filming some more shorts but......life has just gotten in the way. It makes me sad thinking about it, to be honest. We shot this a while back for the DVD and one other short as a sneak peek at season 2 of Zombie Tales and I am hoping by releasing this, maybe just maybe we can get a bit of that old spark back and make some more Zombie Tales!

I like these types of videos, I have made a couple and some people like them and some don't. I like going for drives, just getting in the car and seeing where the road takes me. And I like to shoot video of that. I haven't done it in a while because I always felt most people thought they were boring. But NaVloPoMo taught me some things, the most important thing it taught me is just to create, to make video's. What's the story in this video? You tell me, let it speak to you. What do you see? That's what I want to know, how it made you feel, what it made you remember? See I know what the video means to me and where it takes me, but where does it take you?

I went to the Winnies in Hollywood this past weekend here is a glimpse of the festivities! Some of the vloggers you see are Kent from Ask a Ninja, (like anyone doesn't know Kent) Lan from Noodle Scar, Veronica Blemont (Maholo Daily), Clintus McGintus, Jay Dedman, Ryanne Hodson, Irina Slutsky and Eddie Codel, Steve and Zadi and the guy in the underwear. The fantastic Hip Hop Violinist is Paul Dateh. I would like to do a special shout out to Gena, it was great to finally meet you! I had a great time and I know I am forgetting a ton of people I met. If you were there say "hey" I would love to hear from you! Also check out Susan's, David's and Eric's vlog, we spent the weekend together. I learned something important durning this weekend, I need to learn to shut the #$%@* up! Anyway it was a blast and I am sure you will hear more about it from me. Sorry, but with everything going on and trying to get ready for the winnies, this is all I got. I will probably have to post the last 2 days to my mobilevlog site if you even want to watch it. Bill and Mitzi (LoFi St. Louis) came into town to visit the in-laws and we hooked up tonight for dinner. So this is what you get for NaVloPoMo today, 2 crappy cell phone 30 second videos. I know it's not great but today was really busy, I had to work, shop and hook up with some awsome people! I really like Bill and his wife, and his whole family to be honest, they are just great, fun people. I am really lucky cause so far every vlogger I have meet has just been great. I am looking forward to meeting some more at the Winnies in just a week here! So again sorry for the crappy video, but I will always be able to look at this and remember a fun time I had. For personal reasons I have removed my day 19 video... I thought about it most of the night and most of today and I deceided that I would remove it. I debated long and hard about putting it up in the first place. When I created my vlog, I thought it would be much different than what it has become. I love what it has become, a place to share, a place to learn and a place to grow. But as I am begining to learn, sometimes you have to guard what you share. I mean that's true of anything and anyplace but especially on the web. I want to always be able to share things but much like the situation with my father earlier this year, not everything needs to be shared...some may not understand that and some may go what took you so long to figure it out and some may go who cares....but I have to be true to myself and this is what I have decieded to do.

Day 18 of NaVloPoMo this video I made today, is a far cry from what I thought I would be posting. I had something else in mind. But it's going to take a bit and I just wanted to post something. So I thought I could do a Lumiere, easy to do, easy to edit, etc. Well I then thought, 'hey I have some footage I was messing around with'...then I thought, 'hey why not do what Ryanne did and show me working?', then I thought, 'hey that could be my Lumiere', then I thought, 'but what if I'.....and so on and so on..and so you end up with this...I'm not even sure if I like it, but hey by tomorrow it will be gone.....but then again, I do like it, it's just everytime "I" like a video, no one else seems to so and every video I just "sorta" like everyone likes so maybe I don't want to like it because I want other people to like it?.....that's just crazy, right?....but what if......

Day 17 of NaVloPoMo sorry this post is longer than I thought it would be. I guess the dish is a bit harder to vlog than I thought! I show everyone my world famous Penne dish. I make this for everyone, I even made it for Jay when he came to visit. Anyway I hope you all like it and if you make the receipe, let me know how it turns out!

Receipe:

Chicken

2 chicken breasts cut into cubes

1 teaspoon of black pepper

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 1/2 teaspoon of italian seasonings

1 1/2 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.

mix together and then cook over high heat in Wok until done.

Penne al Brandy

3 1/2-4 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil

4-5 cloves of garlic (minced)

1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

1/4 teaspoon of red pepper

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of basil

1 shot of Brandy

1 14.5 oz can of tomatos (peeled)

1 box of penne pasta

parmesan cheese

Put olive oil, garlic, peppers, salt and basil in sausepan, cook slowy of med-low heat for 5-10 minutes. Start water for pasta, continue cooking mixture until the water boils, then add the tomatos and juice to the mixture. Turn the mixture to low and add pasta to the boiling water. Cook for 8 minutes, then add the brandy to the mixture and cook for 2 more minutes. Drain pasta, (do not rinse) put the pasta back in the pot, add the mixture and let sit for 2 minutes. Plate and serve!

November is a weird month for me. I get very reflective, and like the other day when I got to thinking about my wife's brain tumor. This week I have been thinking alot about my maternal grandpa. I miss my grandpa......he died over 18 years ago but I still think about him a lot. We used to go fishing when I was a little kid, early morning before the sun even came up. They are some of my most cherished memories that I have. He wasn't just a grandpa to me.......Today was the first time I had went to his grave. He died when I was in the service over in Germany. I had actually been home a month prior and got to see him before he passed. If I loved him so much why did it take me so long to visit? .......I didn't want to have to say goodbye. I guess I thought that maybe by not going, that it wouldn't be real.....I know it's stupid....it's just how I felt. It's hard to sum up a person's life in a few minutes or even a few paragraphs. And talking about stuff like this is hard for me. I just wish you all could have met him......he was a great grandpa........

So much creativity, so much passion, so much soul, communication.....it's just awesome.......... simply awesome....It's so great. I feel so inspired by it all. If it wasn't for NaVloPoMo, I doubt I would post this video. I had planned something else entirely. A little lunch time romp and just silliness.....I went from that to this...If I knew this would stay up a week or more between posts, I just doubt I would do it. But knowing that tomorrow it will be something else and this post more or less "gone" makes it easier I guess. Not that it's a bad video or anything. It's just the artist in me thinks it could be so much better, that I could tell the story more artisticly than me just sitting in front of a camera.

But then I remember what I tell Rupert, not that I am in his class of story telling, but I tell him, that it's him that I follow, and like and admire....not just his work...so I guess I have to listen to myself and allow this video to be what it is.....me sharing a memory with you all. And letting the whole world know, how grateful I am to be able to hold my wife in my arms and tell her that I love her. Because for a few months in 1999, 2000 I did not know if I would ever be able to do that again.

Ok day two of National Video Blogging Month is upon us. And after my first video....this one....well it's a quicky....it's ok, I guess, I had a ton of stuff to do tonight, well actually only one thing. We had to go to a charity auction. It was the one I did my first client video for. I haven't felt good all week, been stuffy, snotty, and a bit sick. In other words, I didn't really want to go. But I know I should, so we did. It was fun, hey we got a free meal out of it and saw some old friends....

Since my last post I have been doing a lot of thinking. And part of that thinking is that I need to experiment more with my videos. So this is my first attempt at doing some experimenting! I learned quite a few things, mainly about keyframes and movement. Now to some of you who visit my site, this stuff will probably seem pretty basic to you. But to me, it was huge, I steped out a bit to just focus on learning. Not to just be satisfied with simple fades and cuts, but to just let it hang out a bit.

So I hope you all like it, I do. It's weird, a little odd, slightly strange. In other words, it's a lot like me :) Eagle eyed viewers will realize where there footage was shot! I still have to do the "serious" piece with this footage...someday...

I would also like to thank everyone for their kind words of encourgement in regards to my last video. Making that video was a very liberating moment for me. Since then I have gotten a couple outside video gigs and I hope to get more. (Some that actually pay) But it's all a learning experinece for me and I am determined to keep on learning and growing. Not just with video, but as a person as well.

You can't please everyone....

Is video blogging just a hobby for me or something more? It's a question I ask myself a lot lately. You see I am at a crossroads, for my own mental well being I need to figure out the answer to that question. If's it just a hobby, then I need to get on with my life, try to climb the ladder and make as much money as I can, be content and evey once and a while just video stuff. Or.....I decide that maybe I can make a living by doing video and try and do something about it. Step out on a limb and go for broke. I gotta be honest, it's that whole "broke" thing I worry about.

You see I know in my heart that no one and I mean no one is going to pay me to vlog about my life. I will never make money off the "batman geek". I have accepted that. Oh, at one time I had grand plans, and no I don't do drugs. But I did entertain the possibility that I could make money by me being goofy. Heck, it's part of the reason I called myself "The Batman Geek". But I realized that I am not that interesting. At least not on video. In person, I am freakin awesome. Trust me.

But with all that said, it's not outside the realm of possibility that because of "Batman Geek" I could make some money by videoing.(is that even a word?) I mean, I have had some people come to me recently to ask about filming stuff for them. Now, I am not getting paid for the stuff, (well I kinda got paid for the stuff I did for work, I got comp time and got to film on the clock) But the point is, people are starting to think of me. Which is cool. Now if I can start to make some money on the side....that would be even cooler (ok, I know that's a word, but I am not sure if it is in this context) (shrug)

Well the bottom line is that I have not made up my mind yet. But recently while listening to this song. (which is freaking great by the way and you can buy it from Amazon for only .99, a bargin!) Anyway the song made me realize something very important. What is that? Well if you have already seen the video post, you know what it is. And if you haven't watched the video yet. Go do so now! Oh, in case you are wondering most of the clips in this video have never been seen because they wern't "good enough" (that's what I thought at the time but now....who knows what I will uncover!)

Here's to vlogging! And if you don't know, I got a new phone. It does video, it's crappy video, but it's video. So I have created a mobile vlog site where I upload 30 seconds of video a day. That's right, a daily vlog!! It's not really good, but with all the good stuff out there now, doesn't watching and subscribing to a crappy mobile vlog seem...right? Sure it does! This weekend sucked....not much else to say really. It was a combination of everything, the wife, life, job, life, stuff, life, money, life and did I say life? I tried to do a lot of different things to "show" you how this weekend went/was going. Everything I did, I hated, I sat down and tried to do a voice over, I rambled for 10-15 minutes and nothing sounded......right. See part of the issue with depression is that it is so hard to explain. It's like being....It's.....it's just hard to explain. So after doing a lot of stuff I settled on what you have seen or are about to see. It's the closest I think to what was "inside" me this weekend....(sigh)......

The storm and rain footage is from the Internet Archive. A great resource for all of us, not just those who do film or audio, it's for all of us.

My Summer Vacation

Ok, as most who visit my little site should know, Glenna and I went to Daytona FL for our vacation. Glenna wanted to go to the beach and to the beach we went. For the most part it was really relaxing, we had a couple of "tiffs" that week, but no more or less than usual. It was our 2nd vacation without the kids. The first being our "honeymoon" we took on our 5th yr anniversary. This year will be year 16 for us. Time flies, that is for sure. Anyway the goal was to relax and relax we did, so sit back and enjoy what a typical day for us was like. If the music sounds familer, I used it just a few posts ago. Well I used parts of it, I liked it so much I wanted everyone to hear the whole thing so....

I shot a lot of footage when we were in Daytona this past week, it is going to take me a bit to import it and edit it to make anything really useful out of it. So in the mean time enjoy this little moment of fun I had with Glenna.
